Aurora is an ecosystem that supports all students and inspires them to learn. Not only do we teach a rigorous curriculum – the IB PYP – but we also provide a comprehensive academic program that focuses on our core values: 21st century education, intellectual development and healthy habits for life. We work closely with families to embrace and put into practice these values.
The core values of Aurora remain at the heart of everything that we do—we develop in students a sense of responsible global citizenship; we foster 21st century learning skills which not only includes IT skills but media literacy and international-mindedness; we teach our students to be disciplined, organized, healthy and active; and we hold students to high academic standards so that students realize their own potential and become lifelong learners. This is a tall order, but we believe we can achieve all this through systematic management oversight, regular professional development and curriculum reviews, a structured performance management system, an open and transparent communication system with all our stakeholders, and lots of hard work!
And we practice that we preach; our management team believes in research to stay up-to-data on the most current theory and practice in education, implementing sound management systems to maintain high standards, and institutional growth through learning.
Our values and philosophy are built into our academic program, our service standards and in the design of our extra-curricular activities; we truly treat each child as unique and build on their own interests and passions to inspire learning. A small teacher-student ratio (1:6 for toddlers and pre-schoolers, and 1:12 for pre-K and older students) ensures students get the attention and supervision that they need to thrive.
We set out clear goals and objectives (against which success is measured) and ensure all members of our team understand and take ownership over our values and standards. We are transparent in our evaluation and communications with stakeholders. In our long years of education management, we understand that evaluation and constant monitoring are the key to quality.
We maintain academic quality by carefully recruiting experienced and qualified faculty who are willing to continue learning. Our teachers are caring and responsive to the individual needs of a child and work hard to make learning joyful. We also thoughtfully design curriculum and learning materials that challenge students of multiple intelligences and learning styles; monitor progress and achievement regularly and be responsive to problem areas; provide structured and regular training opportunities for all staff; and ensure every family is working closely with us to support and guide the students along the way.
