The Magic Within Us

Everyone in this domain is either too preoccupied in pointing out the flaws in others and bringing them to light or altering themselves to procure the qualities that will make them superior in other’s eyes, to actually acknowledge who the real you is. They’re too busy, is the issue, to worry about the little details of life that make you the mage you’re supposed to be. Not the one you concoct, the one you pretend to be, to satisfy what others want to see; and forget what really makes you, you. They’re too engaged in feeding the judgmental eyes what they desire; what they are fishing for. And in that process, they tend to shun the magic that flows within themselves.

The magic within me branches out from the very center of my being and unfurls like the mellow rays of the morning sunshine. It bleeds out through my fingertips onto the old and crumbling papers. And in the form of the symphony, through my voice. I don’t let it gather dust. Although it’s tragic how most people do.
Do you believe in magic? No? How will you? This world hasn’t blessed your eyes with it. Will it ever? I don’t know. But what I do know is that I believe in magic. When in a place like this, the first thing you see when you step forward for the first time, is unkindness and injustice, how will you? How will you ever, when your wings are clipped before you can take flight? When your mind is carved to believe what they deem ethical? When people excel in stomping out the magic within us like unwanted fire? My hands are tied and my lips are sewn, but I believe in you.

Venture into the past and ponder for a second about the best moments of your life. Was it when you made your parents proud by living up to their expectations? Or how you went to that amusement park and rode the second fastest roller coaster which made you look cool in front of your peers? But was the best moment in your life ever that one time when you screamed an answer numerous time but it turned out to be wrong? Was it the best because you were confident even if it was wrong and you learned from it? Then that’s your magic. Did you experience the best moment in your life when you picked up that fallen fruit and returned it to the fruit vendor when everyone saw it but no one made an attempt to do what you did? Then that’s the spirit. Or was it when you made someone smile so big that you were positive their face was going to split? You see, people tend to not classify these little things as accomplishments anymore. And thus, they skip the chapter titled “Magic” every time. For which after a while, it seems to have become an instinct.

Most of us are stuck fretting over materialistic things and forget to open the chest of wonders inside us. Too troubled with the serious life to revel in oneself. Now is the time. To reopen the treasure chest and rediscover wonder in a whole new light. The magic within you is waiting to resurrect. Don’t suffocate it. When people tell you, it doesn’t exist, laugh in their face and tell them they haven’t lived yet.
Give yourself some time. Believe in yourself. Help forge smiles on the faces of those who have forgotten. Give them hope. Stand up for people when they’ve given up. And tell them it’s ok to cry. Reform the narrow-minded people and make them believe. Then you’ll find the key for the chapters, the best chapters, that have been bolted shut for centuries.

The magic within us is our power to be optimistic. The magic within us is the people around us, who promote positivity and peace. If one person raised their voice for one unfortunate soul being wronged, that’s the magic within us. When we think twice about something and realize out that doing what we were going to do will affect someone negatively, is the magic that we possess. To differentiate between what’s right and what’s wrong. To learn from our mistakes and arise from our falls. To offer help and apologize and say thank you for even the most minor things that people do for us because that’s nothing to be ashamed of. When we find peace and cherish the beauty right at the edge of our feet, is where we find magic.

We will always harness magic within our core. We need only to believe and let go. The rest is at the palm of our hands and the tip of our wands; for we, are magicians.
